A Little Background
Mrs. Korn was born in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. Her mother was a teacher and for most of her childhood, she dreamt of the day she would be able to work in a school herself. Her college days were fun, but she followed her interests and took a variety of courses at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her parents wondered what she would become as her degree was a combination of political science, sociology, and history. She focused her studies on Eastern Europe. After graduation, Aimee worked in various jobs, from being an assistant at the newly launched cable channel TV Food Network to an account executive for E! Entertainment Television. All the while, she longed to be in school working with kids. As a result, she applied for a Master’s Program for new teachers at DePaul University. It was through this program that Mrs. Korn earned her Master’s in Elementary Education. She has worked in both public and private schools in Chicago and St. Louis. This will mark her 26th year in Education, but 16th in Ladue.

My Teaching Philosophy
I believe in empowering children to become responsible, motivated, and hard-working citizens. Towards this end, I believe in William Glasser’s “Control Theory” which identifies five needs that drive humans to make positive changes. These needs include survival, love and belonging, power or recognition, freedom, and fun! I love my job and will work hard to make sure all students feel successful in school.
